Ciutadella attractions: plan the old town and the coast together

Ciutadella spreads its sights between the old town and a bare north-west coast, so a single afternoon rarely covers both. The cathedral and Plaça des Born sit minutes apart; the Castell de Sant Nicolau and Punta Nati demand a walk and a drive. Plan the town first, then the cape.

Indoor and outdoor stops pair neatly. The Catedral de Santa Maria is a short stop with Gothic bones, later chapels and a 19th-century porch, and its standard entry of 6,60€ also covers the Convent de Sant Agustí five minutes away. Winter hours split into morning and evening, so a midday arrival may miss both.

Plaça des Born costs nothing and takes half an hour: a 22-metre obelisk recalls the town's 1558 sack, the town hall began as a royal Alcázar, and the theatre dates from around 1876. From there, the lanes are yours to wander.

Beyond the town, the Naveta des Tudons is a Bronze Age communal tomb of dry-stone walls beside the Maó–Ciutadella road, viewed from outside only, with sturdy shoes needed for the field walk. On the far cape, Punta Nati's white 1913 lighthouse sits on low cliffs, reached on foot over the last 800 m from a small car park.
