Girona attractions: plan your old-town sightseeing
Girona's sights stack up on one steep hill: the cathedral at the top, the Museu d'Art on its steps, Sant Feliu just below and the Arab Baths a short walk away. The great leveller is the Passeig de la Muralla, a free wall-top walk with rooftop views over the cathedral, the Call and the Onyar.
Only the walls cost nothing; the cathedral, Arab Baths and art museum all charge, and the cathedral is the one sight where booking ahead is recommended. The Arab Baths take 30–40 minutes but close at 14:00 on Sundays, while Sant Feliu opens at 13:00 on Sundays after services.
Plan around two closures: the Museu d'Art shuts on Mondays, and Sant Pere de Galligants closes on Mondays and public holidays, with Sunday hours ending at 14:00. Allow about an hour for the cathedral, the art museum and the monastery, and 30 minutes for Sant Feliu.

Girona Cathedral: Visiting the Gothic Nave and Steps
Girona Cathedral is worth the climb for its single Gothic nave, the widest in the world at 23 metres. The Baroque stairway up from the Barri Vell is steep and crowded, so take it slowly and start early in summer.
about an hour · Paid entry · Book ahead · Best for Gothic architecture and old town views

Girona City Walls: The Passeig de la Muralla Walk
Girona's wall-top promenade is free to walk and gives you rooftop views over the cathedral, the Call and the Onyar. Every access point involves stairs, the path narrows in places, and the gates close at night, so late afternoon works best.
about an hour to an hour and a half · free entry · Best for walkers and view seekers

Banys Àrabs Girona: Visiting the Arab Baths
A compact 12th-century Romanesque building in Girona's old town, laid out as a sequence of bath rooms copied from Muslim hammams. Half an hour covers the plunge pool and arches, but the short Sunday hours (10:00–14:00) catch visitors out.
30-40 minutes · standard €3, reduced €2/€1, under-8 free · Best for old-town walkers and architecture fans

Basílica de Sant Feliu, Girona: What to See Inside
Girona's first cathedral until the tenth century, Sant Feliu packs eight Roman sarcophagi, a Gothic nave and the baroque Sant Narcís chapel into a compact stop. Services come first here, so Sunday sightseeing only opens at 13:00.
30 minutes · donation requested; or combined Episcopal ticket · Best for Roman carving and Gothic interior fans

Museu d'Art de Girona: tickets, hours and what to see
Housed in the bishops' palace on the cathedral steps, this museum holds the richest art collection in the Girona counties, from Romanesque carving to twentieth-century painting. Budget an hour and note the Monday closure.
about an hour · €6.00; €4.00 reduced; free first Sunday and named days · Best for medieval religious art lovers

Sant Pere de Galligants, Girona: Visitor Guide to the Monastery
A Romanesque Benedictine monastery holding Girona's archaeology museum, with carved cloister capitals and displays on Roman Gerunda. It shuts on Mondays, public holidays included, and Sunday hours end at 14:00.
around an hour · Book ahead · Best for Romanesque and archaeology fans
Book the cathedral, skip the rest
Girona Cathedral is the only sight where booking is recommended; tourist visits pause during services, so check cultural-visit hours before you climb the Baroque stairway. Sant Pere de Galligants also benefits from a booked slot, though it is less pressured. The Arab Baths, city walls and Sant Feliu need no booking, but Sant Feliu asks for a donation or a combined Episcopal ticket.
The free walk above the rooftops
The Passeig de la Muralla is the one free sight on this list, and it earns its place: an hour to ninety minutes on the wall tops with views over the cathedral, the Call and the Onyar. Every access point involves stairs and the gates close at night, so late afternoon suits it best. The Museu d'Art is free on the first Sunday of the month and named days, otherwise €6.
